Well done everyone!

Emergence turned out awesome! Congrats and thanks for all your effort and hard work, it really paid off.

Special thanks to Julianne for her creative direction, I think I speak for all of us when I say it was a pleasure realising her unique vision. Make sure to pat her on the back next time you see her.

Also thanks to Vi who got the majority of the supplies and photography, Venus for photography, Roger for the jars and projection effects, Laura for the extra streamers, Nat for the labels, Helen Z for the flyer, Shane for IT, Trinh for her scissors and Helen C and Jordan for feeding us! Thanks also to all of you for the great animations!

And thanks to Troy for making us do it, it was good practice of setting up an exhibition and we have gained useful knowledge for our end of year show, and if Emergence is an indication, with the extra time and resources it should turn out really fantastic!

Doctor venture has recurring dreams of him as a fully grown person as a fetus.
Gave me the idea for a fully grown version of a fetus.


This is his fetus eating his twin.. they both have beards and look like the adult version more that a fetus would.

shouldn't be too expensive - buying in bulk usually makes everything cheaper

Here is the conceptual visualization of my idea.

I am making frogs, not durian any more (durain is too funky, i found out finally, hahaaaa xD)

As I am so into Chinese art recently, I try to apply the Chinese painting style here again. And they turn out like this:



I did't draw the bones or any inner organs yet. But is this ok if I keep'em like this?

There will be subtle movements of the pollywog and the frog in the animation, such as swimming around, breathing,kicking the legs and blinking the eyes...

Besides, I found an image which may help for the space design :


May b we can build up the cups like this and have red lights on them. It may give a sense of being inside mother's stomache, sth like tat ^w^

This all for now, I may have some animation test tmr or by Wed ^^

I has experimented with cups. I staple them, easiest thing to do. But since the cups taper they curve a little, you just have to staple them at different lengths. >_> You kind of have to tailor them. I might have to make them in the room, the one I've made so far is getting too big

Timeline

This is the timeline for production and construction (as outlined by Troy):

(all meetings in our studio room - G2.29)

Tuesday 9th June: 1-2pm: meeting with ALL students to review prototypes

(as opposed to Monday as previously stated, just realised its a public holiday, but feel free to blog progress anyway)

Friday 12th June: 12pm: DEADLINE for all foetus animations (mov. file on data DVD or CD) AND plasticene baby making session

Monday 15th June: 10-11am: installation planning meeting (all materials on site)

Monday 15th-Wednesday 17th June: 10am-4pm: ALL students available to assist with 3 days of fabrication / installation in G2.30 (Please bring your jars sometime during these days)

Troy will be marking attendance at the meetings on June 9th and Monday 15th, plus all day on Wednesday 17th Jun

ie. these shall be seen as formal 'classes'
